Because of the issue with SiteMeter and them not posting an update to what they plan on doing to fix this, many bloggers and website owners are looking for a new way to find out how many visitors that their page receives.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics works by placing a small code onto your site. Unlike SiteMeter it does not post an icon onto your website to show how many page hits that you received but it does allow you to go to their site and find out. SiteMeter only gives you a little bit of information about your blog and Google Analytics comes loaded with information to help you. Google Analytics has many people working on it and unlike SiteMeter, I have never known of Google Analytics causing a website to crash and not giving a reason why.
StatCounter
StatCounter gives you information in a broken down form but they are not as good as Google Analytics. StatCounter allows you to place a small code onto your blog that is similar to the one that SiteMeter uses. StatCounter is free but you may purchase extra features to be added to your StatCounter.
NedStat
NedStat is similar to SiteMeter and StatCounter. NedStat allows you to get free page analys about your blog or website. There are many people who use NedStat and seem to enjoy its many functions.
Out of all four of these traffic counters I like Google Analytics the most since it breaks everything down into a easy to read form and even allows you to set goals to see how many people reach that page. If you are going to be using SiteMeter I would advice that you check your website or blog in as many browsers as possible to make sure that it is working fine.

Post a CommentGreat resource here!
Hello to a fellow okie, I just logged on to sitemeter for the first time this week to take a look. Anyway hope your day in the city is as cool as it is up here in northcentral Oklahoma
I have the same problem Carly. I use Firefox but have learned that it is best to check in IE at least once a week to see what you site is looking like in other browsers.
I've been thinking of putting a traffic counter on my blogs but never have. Thanks for the useful information, Rosa!
Hi Rosa - I did just check my blog and it looks fine. Many people use IE; I browse in Firefox, so I would not have known about the issue but for your article. I'll keep an eye out to see if my traffic (though not much as it is) drops.
