Sitting Upon Her Thinking Rock

C. A. Hargreaves
Sitting upon her thinking rock in her human faerie form, her beautiful silky butterfly type wings out for all to see, not that there was anyone to see them.

She had just finished a grilling week of patrolling the boarder between Faerie Meadows and the Bad Lands. She was feeling drained so she had taken herself off Patrol for forty-eight hours to recharge.

A rustling noise alerted her that there was someone else present. Without warning she spun around towards the sound, her hands resting on the hilts of her swords which were nestled in next to where her wings came out of her back. She didn't draw her swords, just had them at the ready.

"Just me Mon, Violet Eyes," Violet Eyes called out as she came into being in the Meadow about a hundred meters from where Moon Flyer was, she instinctively held up her hands, which was only possible because she was in human form.

"Hey Vi, what can I do for you?" Moon Flyer asked her friend as she relaxed her pose.

"Brightflier got home earlier in a bad state ... not beat up, just exhausted. Figured you would be as well considering you are both on the same Patrol. Just wanted to bring you a Reviver," Violet Eyes explained as she pulled a foaming cup of brew out of thin air. "Plus I wanted to stretch my human muscles, can't really do that in the Dragon Lands, not without grief anyway. So it's just easier to come visit you or Grandmother and Grandfather."

"Aw, that's so sweet, Grandmother and Grandfather will be pleased that you will be visiting them more often," Moon Flyer beamed as she reached for the foaming cup and swallowed the contents with only the smallest of grimaces. "Not as foul as some of Grandmother's brews."

Violet Eyes laughed, mainly in relief that Moon Flyer had accepted her gift, but also at Moon Flyers weird naiveté at times. She had known Moon Flyer for such a small amount of time, only ten years; which to faeries and dragons wasn't long at all considering they both lived for thousands of years.

Moon Flyer was Brightflier's best friend, and she had been his blood witness at his and Violet Eyes Mating Bond Ceremony.

That is when she had met Violet Eyes, and had accepted her as Brightflier's mate right from the start. Anyone with eyes could tell that they were meant to be together. Like duh! She had gone out of her way to make Violet Eyes feel welcome, and made an effort to get to know Vi, which hadn't been much of an effort at all.

"Brightflier catching some shut eye?" Moon Flyer deduced.

"Yeah, gave him some of the Reviver and told him to get some shut eye," Violet Eyes blushed.

"That's what I figured, since you are here without him. Which I don't mind, it's just you have never visited me by yourself before."

"Wasn't sure that you would want me to visit by myself?" Violet Eyes replied honestly.

"Anytime you want to visit is all good with me," Moon Flyer said as she fluttered over to where her friend was and gave her a hug.

It was a hug of reassurance, comfort and friendship. Moon Flyer was a hugger after all. If she didn't hug you, you would know that she didn't like you that much.
