#6: No black nail-polish on your toes, ever. I don't care how old (or young, in this case) you are, this is never a good color-decision. With the sudden influx in popularity of black nail-polish, this little error has made its way onto the feet of thousands of girls and women who want their hands and feet to match. While this can be pulled off on fingernails of young women, there is something considerably more "black plague" about black toenails - especially once the polish begins to chip. If you want to go dramatic in color, choose a midnight shade of red, or even purple. This way you get the sexy dark, deep effect that you would have gotten with black nail-polish without making it look like you're losing oxygen to your toes!
#5: Hairspray holds your makeup in place. If you have a problem keeping your makeup on throughout the course of the day (or night, if you're a club-hopper this works wonders), this is the secret for you. Invest in an aerosol can of hairspray, and after you're done applying all of your makeup, close your eyes and mouth and hold the can about twelve inches from your face. Spray a light coating over your face, and once it settles open your eyes again and - ta da! Makeup that will stay on until you wash it off. Be careful not to purchase spray meant to make your hair shiny as well, or you'll end up with a greasy, shiny look. Don't let them know that there's something on your face, this is the key!
#4: The brows make all the difference. Believe it or not, people are not as shallow as we think. Out of about one hundred people, between sixty and seventy will say that the first physical thing they notice about another person of either gender is that person's eyes. As every woman has different preferences for eye makeup, there really is no "secret" for it. However, if you find that even with your regular eye makeup your eyes still don't seem to stand out, give this a try: Pluck your eyebrows, or have them waxed/threaded. If you're doing it yourself, remember to pluck or wax to shape, not to size (or you'll end up with mini-brows and a surprised expression until the hair grows back in...)! It's a common mistake that women make, but remember - thick eyebrows are coming back into style. If your eyebrows are thin, be sure to lightly and carefully pencil them in in the most natural way possible.
#3: Table sugar/salt: bad for the inside, great for the outside! That's right, while consuming both of these things can have unwanted results, we females have the privilege of using them for their benefits. Both are natural exfoliants, and when used as facial or body scrubs they make your skin child-soft without any nasty chemicals. This is great for women with sensitive skin!
#2: Flawless legs; if ya ain't got 'em, fake 'em. Every woman wants beautiful legs, but sometimes, especially as we age, blemishes and veins become more apparent and they're harder to cover up on the legs than anywhere else. However, if you want to fake gorgeous legs without suffering through the process of putting on rippable stockings, invest in a can of Sally Hensen's Airbrush Legs. This isn't a spray tan, and it doesn't come off until you wash it off. Use as much or as little as you need to in the appropriate shade and voila! Perfectly airbrushed looking legs. The best part? If someone doesn't believe that you don't have stockings on, let them touch your leg - this stuff doesn't come off to the touch!
#1: Vaseline is the universal cure-all. Ladies, this is something that you absolutely cannot live without. One jar of Vaseline not only last forever without going bad, but it can solve almost any common beauty mishap in a hurry; eliminate dry skin, smooth down fly-aways in your hair, soothe chapped lips, remove your eye makeup. Just a small amount of this stuff will take care of all of this and more. A $2.00 jar of Vaseline could save a woman from buying a small emergency lotion, hair gel, brand named eye makeup remover or an extra lip balm. Keep a small jar in your purse or in your desk at work and voila! You're prepared to stay beautiful through whatever life throws your way.
