Six Flags is a popular attraction in the Midwest, located about midway between Milwaukee Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois. The amusement park is open from spring to fall and is closed during the cold winter weather.
Snickers Fright Fest is the finale of the Six Flags season. The park is open for weekends only for the final month of the season. According to the calendar on the Six Flags website, the park is open Friday evenings and on Saturday and Sunday.
Since the ghouls and goblins and scary creatures come out for Fright Fest the park advises that Fright Fest is not appropriate for young children. The event seems to be particularly popular with teenagers, many of whom attend dressed in Halloween costumes. The ghosts and ghouls can get quite lively around the park, so the event may be scary for children, and some adults.
The giant thrill rides offer the same excitement as always during the daylight hours, but at night the rides are in the dark, offering a different type of thrill. The colored lights blazing through the darkness can be beautiful. Throughout the park are various Halloween decorations, including pumpkins, spiderwebs, corn stalks and creepy decorations.
The fall weather can be cool, particularly as night falls, so it is wise to dress warmly, or to bring a jacket. Food and beverages are available at Six Flags.
In 2010, Fright Fest opens on Saturday, October 2 and runs on weekends through October 31, 2010. See the Six Flags website for hours, tickets and additional information.
There are several hotels near Six Flags. Some hotels are within walking distance for healthy walkers. Some hotels offer shuttles, which saves the parking fee.
Key Lime Cove Water Resort is a kid friendly hotel with its own waterpark, located across from Six Flags. The resort has a shuttle that transports guests to Six Flags. During the month of October, the resort is offering a Fright Fest package deal that includes accommodations, Fright Fest passes, Paradise Waterpark passes and more. See the Key Lime Cove website for details.
