Six Flags St. Louis is an amusement park that is sure to bring you many great memories! Six Flags of St. Louis is located in Eureka Missouri and opened back in 1972. Six Flag of St. Louis was the third and last amusement park opened by the Six Flags chain. Six Flags of St. Louis houses rides for all ages and fear factor! Six Flags of St. Louis is known for the Screamin' Eagle roller coaster ride but have added many new high fear thrill factor rides since. Other rides with a high fear thrill factor are Batman the Ride, The Boss, Mr. Freeze, Xcalibur, and The Ninja, Cape Crusader', Superman: Tower of Power, and the Speed Slides and Tube Slides (Slides located in Hurricane Harbor water park area of the park.)

Hurricane Harbor was opened in 1999 as an added attraction to Six Flags of St. Louis. The initial admission fee covers the use of the water park as well. The water park has something for every age. The water park sits on 12 acres housing a wave pool, raft adventures, slides, and a children's play area which made it great due to the size and age of my children on this adventure. .

With height and sometimes-even weight restrictions on certain rides, when we visited there were many rides my children could not partake in, which caused unhappy children. It was a good thing that they have a section suited just for the little ones although some still have height restrictions but at least they were able to get on some rides Some rides also required an adult to ride with them, but isn't that what it is all about, getting involved in your children's fun? I do not recommend bring an infant here and would suggest waiting until after your child is at least three before taking them. It is a huge park and requires a lot of walking.

Food and drinks are pricey as well. I suggest bring a cooler with your lunch. We always walked back out to our vehicle and ate our lunch there. You will see many others doing the same. That is the nice thing about Six Flags of St. Louis; you can leave the park and come back onto the premises as many times as you like through out the day. Just make sure to get your hand stamped. Be prepared to walk, from the parking lot you have a distance before even reaching the park entrance.

There is section of the park where the kids gravitated to that have what I would call body fountains; that is the best way I can think to describe it. The kids loved it, it is similar to walking or playing in a sprinkler, and on a hot day, it is just what the kids' seemed need to keep the smiles coming especially after having to do so much walking.

Over all, I thought the trip was well worth it and the kids overall had a wonderful time. I am looking forward to the day where they surpass the height and weight restrictions though so they can really enjoy it in its entirety and I can get full use of the money it cost to go. General admission into the park is $36.99 for anyone over 48" and under the 48" height restriction it cost $29.99 with the exception of two and under free. If you shop around you can often easily find discount tickets for Six Flags of St. Louis though. We purchased mine through my credit union and saved about 10 dollars a head this way. Six Flags of St. Louis is located on the outskirts of Eureka Missouri, southwest of St. Louis off Interstate 44 exit 261.

Some suggestions I would consider when visiting Six Flags of St. Louis is to for one, make sure you bring plenty sun screen and a change of clothes. If you venture into the water park or the "body fountains", you will be glad you did. Even the log ride, dependant upon wear you sit, you can get quite wet! Towels are nice to have as well. Make sure, if you have older children with you, each have a map of the park and have an agreed upon check in point with scheduled times to meet at through out the day. Also, make sure that there is a form of instant communication with everyone if breaking off from a group via cell phone or radio transmitters in case of emergencies. Make sure to pack a lunch, many snacks, and plenty of water and things to drink. Write on group leaders hands where the vehicle is parked. They have poles with letters and numbers on them, this way it will make it easier for everyone to find one another either for lunch/snack breaks or end of day. Make sure you have a fully packed first aide kit for emergencies as well. On the park ground there are first aide buildings available, but for minor emergencies or if care is needed while at vehicle, it will come in handy. However, most of all have fun and dare to ride a ride a bit out of your comfort zone; you will have a blast and be glad you did!

I buy season passes every year for the past 4 years for me and my 4 kids. We've been to the one in New England, New Jersey (my favorite), Maryland, and as a child I used to go to Magic Mountain in California. You gotta try the NJ one for sure. The kingda ka coaster rocks.

Brought back memories. I went there as a kid with my parents. We were on the cable car ride over the park and saw a tornado heading for the park. No, we did NOT get our money back. Thanks. Great article.
