Meg G.
Atlanta's Six Flags is under water after rain plagued the Atlanta metropolitain area. ABC News reports has a link to a video of Six Flags under water, with a rollercoaster weaving in and out of the murky water.

Those who wanted to visit Six Flags this weekend will have to change their plans. With Six Flags under water, you can be sure that the popular Atlanta theme park will be closed for a while.

Once under water, Six Flags will have to be repaired, inspected, and cleaned up before any guests can enter the park again.

I've never seen anything like Six Flags under water. The biggest theme park I have ever been to is Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. I can't imagine what that theme park would look like under water - nor would I ever want to see that.

With Six Flags under water, where should a family go if they want to seek thrills? While it's entirely possible that Six Flags will open back up in time for next summer, it's always good to have a "plan B".

With Six Flags under water, there are 3 alternative Six Flags theme parks in the southeastern US, 2 alternative smaller theme parks, and 2 huge amusement parks in nearby Florida.

Six Flags theme park enthusiasts who want to find another Six Flags park now that Six Flags is under water in Georgia can travel to Arlington, St. Louis, or Louisville.

If you don't care what type of park you go to as long as it has at least one rollercoaster, there are several other options now with Six Flags under water.

Magic Springs in Hot Springs, Arkansas is a family favorite. Silver Dollar City is another small town and affordable theme park to consider with Six Flags under water.

Orlando, Florida is about 500 miles from Atlanta. With Six Flags underwater, Disneyland and Universal Studios may be a great option for a fun family vacation.

The flooding in Atlanta is very tragic. Even more tragic is the fact that with Six Flags underwater, many Atlanta area families won't have the luxury of hitting the theme park on the weekend.

With Six Flags under water, you know that the rest of the Atlanta area is in shambles. According to ABC News, many area homes are flooded and some people have died, including a 2 year old swept from his father's arms.

Meg, I can't believe you didn't mention Dollywood - it's in your own home state and is an even better experience than Six Flags. It's 3-4 hours north of Atlanta. For those needing a park to the south - Wild Adventures is 3-4 hours to the south of Atlanta.

Magic Springs is a very nice "family" park with a good ratio of rides for everyone. However, Silver Dollar City may be the best theme park in the nation. From very quality coasters to very well themed rides and awesome homemade food, it is worth the trip.
