Six Jennifer Love Hewitt Facts: Info About The Ghost Whisperer Star

Viewers can watch every week as actress Jennifer Love Hewitt stars as Melinda Gordon, a woman that can communicate with ghosts in the CBS show The Ghost Whisperer. Some people know her from that role as well as the role of the wholesome Sarah Reeves in Party of Five.

Here are five facts about Jennifer Love Hewitt you may not know.

1. Origin of her name. When Hewitt was born in 1979, she was given her first name from her brother. Her middle name, Love, came from her mother, a speech pathologist. Her brother chose her first name because of a girl he liked. Her mother chose the name Love after her college best friend.

2. Also a singer. Jennifer Love Hewitt released her second album "Let's Go Bang" shortly after making her first appearance on the show "Party of Five." Prior to that, her first album "Love Songs" was released in 1992 after a couple minor roles as an actress. As a singer, Hewitt has a contralto voice range, a classical singing voice ranging between tenor and mezzo-soprano. It's the lowest female singing voice.

3. Previous television shows. In 1999, four years after joining the "Party of Five" cast, Hewitt left the show to play the role as Sarah Reeves on the show "Time of Your Life." In the spin-off show Hewitt starred as Sarah Reeves Merrin (she added the Merrin last name from her birth mother during a Party of Five episode.) "Time of Your Life" lasted for one season and 21 episodes from late 1999 to 2001.

4. Nude photo request. Jennifer Love Hewitt turned down an offer from Playboy to pose nude in 2007. It is unknown how much Hewitt was offered to pose for the magazine. In 1999 Hewitt was named the sexiest woman in the world and the sexiest woman on television in 2008. She has received recognition from the magazines Maxim, FH and TV Guide.

5. Early work. Some young ladies may remember Jennifer Love Hewitt from her role in the Dance Workout with Barbie video released in 1992. In the 25-minute video she's seen enthusiastically exercising with about eight other girls.

6. Music video maven. Hewitt appeared as Enrique Iglesias's girlfriend in his 2001 music video for the song "Hero". The song was released from Iglesias's second English album Escape. The video features the characters of Iglesias and Hewitt, lovers, running from their enemies.
