You're more likely to impress someone if you are (or appear) a bit modest.
2. Making yourself look good at the expense of others-Don't upstage friends or co-workers, and don't hog all the credit.
You're likely to repeat this blunder because the first time you do it, the other person probably won't make much noise about it. But if you're consistently doing this, you'll make enemies-and they'll eventually find a way of getting back at you.
3. Trying to handle too much-You spread yourself too thin-and you do it often-because you misjudged the amount of time you really have for extra responsibilities. You need to take a realistic look at your priorities. Keep a journal or diary for a week to see how much time you spend on various activities. That way you'll have a clear picture of exactly how much time you have left for taking on more.
4. Falling for the same type of person-This happens the first time-and again-because love is truly blind.
When a relationship goes kaput, it's easy to gloss over the bad parts. But suddenly, you're back into the same type of relationship with another person-and with the same kind of problems.
When you find yourself attracted to the same kind of person, as yourself: "Do I need these problems?"
Learn from the bad times-and try not to repeat them.
5. Revealing too much of yourself too soon-This can hurt you, especially if you blab too much about yourself to a boss or co-worker you don't know well.
It's an easy mistake to repeat because your listener probably won't interrupt you.
But he (or she) may conclude that you're a scatterbrain or that you talk too much and can't be trusted with information.
Make it a rule not to gush intimate details about yourself unless you have a solid longstanding friendship with the other person.
6. Falling deeply into debt-In an uncertain economy, this is very easy to do and keep repeating. You'll just have to stop using your credit cards ( some have actually torn them up!) and buy only with cash. If you're using the real deal (money), you'll quickly get a handle on that extra spending.
