Six Reasons Taylor Swift Rocks

As a musician with a music degree I can definitely appreciate some people in the music industry more than others. I love music and most days, people say my life is a musical. Either I am listening, dancing, singing or jamming to music. Most people I meet are a lot like me, and the internet has made music so accessible with Pandora and YouTube. There is one country singer lately who has continued to impress me as she gets more recognition in the music industry and the world. That is Taylor Swift.

1. Taylor is talented! Not only can she sing, play guitar and piano, but she writes all her songs. There are some who can sing, play or write but she does them all well! She uses her sparkling personality to make every song memorable by singing them her way. Check out Love Story, I think it says it all. (Taylor won Video of the Year at the CMA's this year for this video.)

2. Sets a good example. She is 19 and still growing up, but already is way ahead of other musicians her age and some even older than her. She demonstrates self control, respect, confidence and kindness. Whenever Taylor is signing autographs, playing a show or attending an event; she is polite like a good role model!

3. Dresses nicely. She knows that she does not have to wear a bikini (or less) to get noticed. She has real talent, so she wears clothes that cover her up and put on a great show! Most of the time you will see her in a sundress because she loves them. But really, who doesn't?

4. Born Entertainer! She really knows how to put on a great show! I don't mean she uses crazy stunts like some other people. She knows how to sing and get people on their feet. I had the opportunity to go to one of her concerts and I had the time of my life! She energized the whole crowd within a minute or so. Her zest for life and music, makes everyone fall in love with her music. You can't teach people this, they are either born with it or not. Taylor was definitely born with it! She recently won Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards. (She also took home: Album of the Year for "Fearless", Music Video of the Year "Love Story", and Female Vocalist of the Year at the CMA's this year.)

5. Meaningful lyrics. Since she writes her songs, they truly come from her heart. They are about previous relationships with friends and boyfriends. Some are about school and not fitting in. They are about life. I am sure there is at least one of Taylor's songs which each and every person in the world could relate. She doesn't just say things that don't matter, or fill with inappropriate words. She writes from her soul and sings from her heart.

6. Real. Taylor knows who she is and doesn't act like she is someone other than that. She knows where she is from and where she is headed. She doesn't put on a front when she's writing her music or performing it. She's Taylor Swift, and not afraid to show it.

I realize that Taylor is not perfect, just like the rest of us. She sure sets a good example for the youth who look up to her though. I am truly happy for her and that there is another successful singer who can actually sing out there! She has won award across the board for her musical talents. This year she made history by being the first country singer to win a MTV Video Music Award. (She won it for "You Belong with me".) Go Taylor!
