Six Reasons to Watch 'American Idol' in 2011

Renee Bagley
"American Idol" has reached a brand new audience of fans with new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. The show was due for a much anticipated format change and reworking the judges panel certainly has done the show much justice.

1) Steven Tyler is a rock legend. His long and albeit successful career with Aerosmith certifies Tyler as the best judge to ever sit at the judge's table. Plus you never know what the wild, funny man may say, and it's always interesting. He has toured the world with Aerosmith, had groupies from every walk of life, and his career has been long and everlasting. And he's still alive to talk about it. What's not to love?

2) Everything is new! With new judges, talent, producers, and format - the show is more utterly watchable than it ever was pre 2011. Just knowing the viewers get new, fresh content and you never know what to expect makes the show more interesting than it ever was.

3) New amazing talent is found every single year. "American Idol" has found more than a handful of extremely talented singers, like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Chris Daughtry.

4) It is the best of the best of reality TV. No other reality show does what "Idol" does: true unplanned brilliance and errors, discovering America's talent that may have never been found otherwise, and watching people's hopes and dreams realized.

5) Randy Jackson has found more original and constructive feedback to give than previous years. It's no longer just "yo, yo, yo dog."

6) Jennifer Lopez. Say what you will but she makes for good TV. Although she isn't the most talented singer of the judge's she has found continual success in her ever widening career. The woman does it all: she sings, dances, is a fabulous actress, not counting she is also a wife to Marc Anthony and a mother to twins Max and Emme.

"American Idol" airs every Wednesday and Thursday on FOX at 8/7c.
