Six Reasons You Should Be Watching Glee

Kyra Lennon
If you haven't seen Glee yet, you are definitely missing out! The hit show about McKinley High's glee club has taken over the world and made geeks go from lame to cool! Romance, tears, and stereotyping are a big part of high school life, and Glee manages to reflect reality while captivating the audience with witty dialogue and quirky characters. If you're still not convinced, take a look at six reasons you should be watching Glee!

Six Reasons You Should Be Watching Glee

1. The Music

To begin with the obvious, Glee's main focus is the glee club which means there is a lot of music. Instead of cramming Glee with completely modern music, the range of tunes is incredible. From rock to show tunes, rock n roll to hip hop, there is literally something for everyone. If you like music, you will love Glee.

2. The Glee Club Characters

The members of McKinley High's glee club are literally a bunch of misfits. Rachel Berry is the star of the glee club and deeply unpopular due to her drama queen attitude, diva qualities and her desperation for fame. She is very real though, and underneath it is a very sweet girl. Also in glee club are Mercedes, a large black girl with an amazing voice, Artie, who is in a wheelchair, Finn, the singing football star and Kurt, the fashion conscious gay kid. These characters have literally been designated to play stereotypes of people who may not fit in anywhere else in high school - but glee club gives them a place to belong.

3. Matthew Morrison

I will be looking into the cast in more depth later, but Matthew Morrison is a great reason to watch Glee all on his own! Matthew Morrison plays the glee club teacher Will Schuster and that man absolutely oozes star quality and gorgeousness.

4. "Special" Episodes

Glee has become known for making special episodes focusing on a particular singer or movie. The first special Glee episode was about Madonna and the entire script was focused on the songs of Madonna as well as lots of mentions of her achievements over the years. The most recent special Glee episode was Britney Spears-centric and even featured Britney herself. In the coming weeks, Glee fans will be treated to a special Rocky Horror Show episode in time for Halloween!

5. Hard-hitting storylines

While there is much fun and happiness in the glee club, there is an equal amount of serious stuff. In series one alone, Glee has covered teen pregnancy, the damage of lies, dealing with sexuality, how stereotypes can lead to bullying plus how quickly roles can change and brief glimpses into abuse of alcohol.

6. Excellent Cast

Lea Michelle, Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch and Cory Monteith have become household names since Glee began. Almost all of the cast were handpicked from musical theatre and they have taken the transition to television very well indeed. The vocal talents of these actors and actresses have to be heard to believed.

These are just a few of the many reasons you should be watching Glee! There is so much more to see and hear, so why not tune in? Before you know it, you may just be a fully fledged Gleek!

You know what? I think I will start watching this show. I've heard so much about it (all great) and just haven't given it a shot yet. If I'll lower myself to watching "Sister Wives" I can certainly upgrade to a better show like Glee appears to be... :)

I've made a point to watch every Tuesday this season. I missed some episodes last season and have yet to figure out what exactly led to some plot twists. lol

I have never seen it either, but I will be looking for it. I did hear it was amazing and facebook seems to die around the time glee airs!
