Six Things that the Lord Hates, Seven that Are an Abomination to Him; Also Known by Most as the Seven Deadly Sins
It Doesn't Take Much to Commit These Seven Sins
The way that you do it is to find people that are unfamiliar with the concept and naive to your rhetoric and then present it to them as though it were an idea that you came up with. Is it ingenious, or is it an evil, dastardly deed? Well it all depends on who you ask but I do know this much; no amount of intellectualism is going to save you when something as simple as those deadly sins are sold to you in the right way. You will digress and will be victim to the same sins as everyone else and quite honestly, intellectualism in and of itself is its own sin if you use it to work around what God is attempting to do in your life. The world is full of people that think that they are thinking for themselves but are only following a path that someone else prepared for them. That is part of the reason why it is so important to get ourselves right because these are sins that one is not going to avoid. We think that we are so smart, but most of us are relearning everything that has already been told to us on that bright Sunday morning.
I started off my search on the Internet because I knew that looking for the scriptures would be easier there plus I cannot afford a concordance. Well I probably could but I cannot afford one today. Wikipedia had an article that says that the seven deadly sins can be found in the Book of Proverbs. A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plots, feet that are swift to run to mischief, a deceitful witness that uttereth lies, and someone that sows discord. Doesn't sound like you does it; well do you know if he murdered someone or not and what did you tell the detective? Yeah you didn't want to snitch did you. Yes that makes you a deceitful witness that uttereth lies. You also shed innocent blood because you know that the wrong person is going to be found and taken in. You also had a lying tongue, and probably had a proud look because you knew that you were staying loyal to the code. Plus, chances are you had a heart that devises wicked plots because you were probably in on it with him, and of course your feet were quick to run to mischief because you wanted to get away with it. You cannot exist in that world without sowing discord, so there you go.
A lot of us that think that we are doing the right thing by staying off of the streets are involved in the things that the Lord hates on our job. Your company may have a mission statement or a privacy policy but that does not mean that you never resorted to these sins when you knew that it was easier to explain it one way as opposed to being a Boy Scout and taking the long road home. I know that most of you took that job in a call center when you could not find any other employment, and if you have not count yourself as blessed, because a lot more people will in the next few years. The pastor never told me that all seven sins would be committed in one swift act. Why do we have songs about pride, being a diva, having a huge ego. In fact, I am not surprised about Kanye West because the media themselves sold the fact to us that he was proud, and we accepted it because after all Kanye West has a self-deprecation about himself, a different form of consciousness. We accepted that form of consciousness, because it was better than nothing, and we wanted to get away from 50 Cent, to hear him tell it. So then when Kanye says that he sold his soul to the devil we are surprised, and are also surprised when Jay Z disses Jesus Christ. How foolish are we when we already had evidence of the fruit that they were bearing.
You have to take it back to Matthew 7:17 and Luke 6:43. It tells you right there that you should already know what you need to know by the actions that are taken. So if someone says something that is wrong, and is in a position that is wrong it does not matter how you think that it is deep or profound the fact that there was wrong in it makes it all wrong. See hip-hop and rock music have conditioned us to think that somehow, someway, there is something good in there that we just need to find it. But it is wrapped in something that is wrong, so why do you want to find the good that is in it. How good can it be; we follow gospel and CCM artists that associated with people that stand for everything that is wrong in the world and think that gives these artists an edge and that we are going to get something right from it. Well didn't you go through everything that was wrong in order to get to this right place in God to begin with? So why would you want to do that all over again, willingly, wasn't it hard enough when you did not know God.
Why is it that this presented to us in two different ways, is it really that important or was the message being delivered to two different sets of people? One of the cross references for Matthew 7:17 is Matthew 12:33. "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit." So stop playing games with it make it up in your mind which you plan on being and do not accept compromises in your own life under the guise of artistic abilities and intellectualism accept it for what it is. You know a big part of the reason why we do not have any energy to do what we need to do in this world, what we have been informed that we should do and what our conscious nags us about is because we loose a lot of our energy on trying to figure out whether something is good or bad. Your first intuition will tell you. If there is a hesitation, if you are unsure whether or not you should proceed then you already know.
Proverbs 6:16 - 19 tells us that the Lord hates six things, and that seven are an abomination to him. Read in the Kings James Version you can walk away with the idea that if you have offended the Lord by involving yourself in all seven you are worse off than if it were just six, that there is a seventh sin that is an abomination, and then try to figure out what that seventh is, or that being in a mindstate in which the majority of these sins are committed, is worse than if just one or two were. It really does not matter. As in my earlier talking point, trying to figure that out is trying to find a work around and attempting to separate the bad from the good. The real point could be that one will lead to the other, quickly, if not all at once within a reasonable amount of time, and that could be the real danger. But it all amazes me how the seven sins that I once thought were of no consequence because that is something that previous generations may have had to deal with, are now the vices through which we are all being led down the wrong path ...
