Stay Together
Depending on the event, there may be an upstairs and a downstairs. Since these events typically sell out completely, there's going to be a ton of people and it's going to be really loud. Therefore, if you decide you want to go downstairs and then meet up with your friends upstairs, it might be harder than you think. When the downstairs gets too full, they'll shut it off, so if you decide to leave you won't be able to return and you'll have to stay upstairs. To make matters more difficult, it's really loud and there are tons of people, so your friends probably won't feel or hear their cell phone going off if you try to call. So it's better to stay together and make decisions as a group if you don't want to remain separated for the whole night.
Get There Early!
This is really important. If you're planning on getting to Dayglow on time, you may have to wait in line for over an hour. Since these events usually sell out, there's going to be a ton of people in line. To get the most out of your Dayglow experience, get there with plenty of time to spare. There's no harm in getting there too early, it just means that your group will get to secure a spot close to the stage where you'll get to see all the performances close up!
Bring Goggles
Chemistry goggles are best. The kind that create a seal around your eyes. This is important because once the event begins, people will be throwing around paint like crazy. The paint is non-toxic, so it's not dangerous, but it's still no fun getting paint in your eyes. Goggles are easy to wipe off and you should have to shield your eyes or turn away every time paint comes toward you.
Stay Hydrated
The sheer number of people pressed up together makes the event really really hot. And while there's free water at the event, it's sometimes hard to maneuver through the crowds to get to the bar. So go ahead and heavily hydrate yourself before the event begins, then as the night goes by, make a few stops and get a drink of water. It's better to prepare for dehydration than to get to the end of the night and feel super sick.
Use Sense When Choosing Your Bag
Purses aren't really practical at Dayglow. It's a far better idea to bring a little backpack. That way, you don't have to hold onto anything or put your stuff down. You can get through crowds and keep your stuff close to you. Another great thing about bringing a bag is that you can bring a change of clothes or a towel, because whether or not you're a sweaty person, chances are someone around you will be and you'll end up drenched by the end of the night. You'll also be covered in paint, so it'll be nice to have a towel to sit on in the car or a change of clothes for good measure.
Glow sticks are Prohibited at Some Venues
Find out beforehand whether you can bring glow sticks. Many people don't bother to ask then get to the front gate and realize that they can't bring in their glow sticks and have to throw them out. Instead of wasting your money, look on the website and find out before your Dayglow event.
