'Skating with the Stars' Finale Week: It's an Elimination Shocker!

On "SWTS" Week 5, One of the Top Scoring Skaters is Sent Home

Victoria Leigh Miller
Monday night on ABC's "Skating With the Stars" it was time for the three remaining couples to perform a group skate as well as an individual freestyle skate. And with just one night until the "SWTS" finale, this week's scores were the most important scores of the season.

First up, the final three couples competed in a group skate to the tune "All I Want for Christmas Is You." The scores for the group skate were later added in to the total scores for the night. For the group skate the scores were as follows:

Bethenny Frankel and Ethan Burgess - 7 points
Jonny Moseley and Brooke Castille- 8 points
Rebecca Budig and Fred Palascak- 9 points

Rebecca Budig and Fred Palascak
The "All My Children" star and her partner dazzled the judges with their elegant performance. Judge Dick Button called it "a complete, whole unit" and said he was "bowled over by it." Johnny Weir said he was "taken to a new planet."
TECHNICAL MERIT: 28/30
ARTISTIC IMPRESSION: 29/30
Group Skate Points: 9
Total= 66

Jonny Moseley and Brooke Castille
The Olympic gold medalist chose the Marvin Gaye song 'Let's Get It On' and he later had some 'splainin to do. Johnny Weir slammed the song choice, saying, "I like that song alone in my bedroom but not on ice skating." TMI, Johnny!
TECHNICAL MERIT: 26/30
ARTISTIC IMPRESSION:/2830
Group Skate Points: 8
Total= 60

Bethenny Frankel and Ethan Burgess
After her free style skate, "Real Housewives" star Bethenny Frankel started bawling. And yeah, she played the "baby" card (as in, she left her baby to come do this show). Clearly fearing this was her last skate, Frankel was feeling a bit emotional. Johnny Weir was easier on her this week, even gushing, "I loved watching you tonight!" Huh? Was this the same guy who said last week he doesn't really care to watch her anymore? He must have watched the playback of how he dissed her last week.
TECHNICAL MERIT: 21/30
ARTISTIC IMPRESSION: 22/30
Group Skate Points: 7
Total= 43

With the scores locked in, it was time to combine them with the viewer vote from the last two weeks. And in an elimination shocker, the talented Jonny Moseley was sent home.

To say Moseley was stunned would be an understatement. The audience wasshocked and it seemed like the poor man's version of Brandy's premature "Dancing With the Stars" elimination.

What was America thinking?

So it's Rebecca Budig against Bethenny Frankel for Tuesday night's "SWTS" finale. May the best skater- or the most popular one- win!

You can catch the season finale of "Skating with the Stars" on Tuesday, December 21st at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.

    This show is a farce. The fact that Bethanny is skating in the final instead of Jonny is a joke and not worth watching. Rebecca and Jonny made for a better competition
