Skating with the Stars, Meet the Six Cast Members of Season 1 (Photo Links)

ABC's Skating With The Stars is almost like a sister-show to the wildly popular Dancing With The Stars now in its eleventh season. The format of Skating With The Stars is fairly similar to that of DWTS and will premiere on Monday, November 22 and 23, immediately following the Monday and Tuesday DWTS shows of Finals Week. Both shows are creations of BBC Worldwide Productions.

In Skating, six celebrities will be paired with a professional ice skating partner and all will compete live in front of a panel of judges. Those judges, in turn, will rate the performances and then viewers are asked to call in or text votes for their favorite pair. This inaugural Season 1 is currently slated to run for six episodes.

The six celebrities and their professional partners are as follows:

Betheny Frankel (Real Housewives Reality Star), paired with Benjamin Okolski

Vince Neil (Lead of Motley Crue), paired with Jennifer Wester

Rebecca Budig (Actress All My Children) paired with Fred Palascak

Brandon Mychal Smith (Disney Star) paired with Keauna McLaughlin

Sean Young (Actress) paired with Daniil Barantsev

Jonny Moseley (Olympic Gold Medal Skier) paired with Brooke Castile

If you're thinking this show has already been on television before, you're sort of correct. A similar show aired on Fox in 2006 and was called "Skating With Celebrities," which was the US version of the UK's "Dancing On Ice." That show was not renewed with one of the reasons involving an affair which developed between former Olympian Lloyd Eisler and contestant Kristy Swanson.

Whether or not ABC's and BBC Worldwide Production's Skating With The Stars will be a hit is yet to be seen. Having it follow on the heels of Dancing may or not be a good idea (perhaps Skating will be a letdown after Dancing), or it may just be what the doctor ordered for the long winter nights.
