Don't forget about the hidden gem, Pajarito, just outside los alamos. After taos it has the best terrain for intermediate and advanced skiiers in NM. It's only open 3 days a week so it boast the least skiied-over snow in NM. It's cheap, and no lines. Plus epic mountain views in three directions: see the Caldera, sandia, and the sangre de cristos Very family friendly. Even the hotels are inexpensive.
