As the largest ski mountain in the United States, Vail, Colorado offers some of the best skiing in the world. Located within 45 minutes of downtown Denver, veil is located in the middle of the rocky mountains. Mountain peaks rising to 12,000 feet offer novice and experienced skiers a powdered paradise, and slopes ranging from those designed for beginners two advanced or expert skiers. Vail receives almost 32 feet of snow every winter, but it the same time offers over 300 days of bright, crisp, Colorado sunshine.
Another popular Colorado winter ski location, Aspen, nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, is about 3 1/2 hours from downtown Denver. Aspen began as a mining town, and in the early 1900s developed its reputation a world-class ski resort and town, offering world famous restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and shops. Aspen boasts four ski areas, and offers a variety of skiing activities, from cost country ski trails to multilevel ski runs. For individuals nod and a skiing, Aspin also offers snowshoe trails and dog-sled tours. Receiving roughly 30 feet of snow every winter, Aspen ski slopes rise over 11,000 feet and offer and of powder to keep both snowboarders and skiers happy all winter long.
Snowmass Mountain, located near Aspen,offers one of the most beautiful sights in the Colorado Rockies.With summits elevation of over 12,000 feet, Snowmass offers visitors over 3,000 acres of snow-packed playgrounds. Nearly 150 miles of trails offer skiers miles of slopes, with plenty available room to spare. Because of its immense size, promoters of Snowmass claim an average of two skiers per acre, and claim one of the best family rated ski resorts and areas in the United States.
Echo Mountain is a relatively new ski resort in Colorado, approximately 35 miles west of Denver that offers convenient access to some of the best skiing in the area. Skiing and snowboarding is available on the mountain, which receives an average of 18 feet of snow every winter. Spectacular mountain views, easy access to interstate 70, and its proximity to downtown Denver has made tackle mount in an increasingly popular ski resort and area at an elevation of approximately 10,500 feet.
