Opportunities to ski or snowboard in North Carolina are plentiful. Thee state boasts of several quality ski resorts. Most of these also offer snowboarding. Almost all will expect you to adhere to a skier's code of conduct.
The information here is intended for families who may be considering an occasional ski trip or first time adventure. It is not written for the die hard skier. Power skiers are encouraged to contact the resorts directly for course difficulty and specific information.
Although we don't get to ski or snowboard often these are activities that my daughters enjoy. Finding a place that offers skiing refresher courses or beginner lessons is a must. Renting ski and snowboard gear helps make skiing possible for us.
When we ski or snowboard or enjoy the snow in North Carolina all we have to do is pack our cold weather clothing and ski bibs. For us, this includes hand warmers, hats, gloves, scarves, turtlenecks, thermals and warm jackets. Layers is always easier than one heavy snowsuit.
When you ski or snowboard in North Carolina you will find that most of the resorts fulfill the needs of beginners and some advanced skiers. Attention to these details goes a long way toward making the ski trip an experience that all ages can enjoy.

Appalachian Ski Mountain is one of the places where you can ski or snowboard in North Carolina as a group. Special rates are available. The nursery is open 7 days a week. An RV park makes it convenient for skiers who like to have their homes with them. Wireless internet and heated sidewalks are a plus.

Ski school at Beech Mountain includes adult classes for just about every level of ability. First time snowboarders and skiers will be able to get the lessons you need. The school is certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America. Both group and private lessons are available.

There is never a bad time to visit Maggie Valley. This town is not far from the North Carolina and Tennessee line. Visitors can enjoy snow tubing, skiing, and race opportunities. Lessons, season passes and group rates are available.

Sugar Mountain Resorts offer the chance to ski, snowboard or ice skate. Seasons passes are available. Beginners may find the atmosphere to be a little more advanced than at some other resorts. Wolf Ridge offers a snow sports school for kids age 5 and up and adults. Private and group lessons are available. You can ski, snowboard or enjoy the snow in North Carolina at Wolf Ridge. There is even a snow tube run for those who want to try tubing. Special rates for groups are available.
