Skiing in Colorado

Tricia Brotherton
Colorado has been a favorite ski location for many years. Not only does it offer a wide array of ski resorts, its panoramic views cannot be surpassed. There are several things to consider when planning your Colorado ski vacation.

As with most sports, there are peak times for skiing. If you are planning on staying at a ski resort, find out when their peak seasons are. If budgeting is a factor, you may benefit by planning around these peak times. Most resorts stay open for skiing until early Spring, this may be a time to get the best deal. Planning your vacation well in advance will get you the best pricing on air travel and accommodations.

Not only will you want the best ski location for your level of skiing, another factor to consider is what activities you desire when you're not skiing. If dining, shopping and night life are important on your vacation, you may want to stay close to town. If you are not patient at standing in line for lifts, you may want to choose a location more secluded.

With all of the options on where to ski in Colorado, researching the location in advance will make your trip more enjoyable when you're there. Most resorts offer various levels of slopes. These are ideal families. Children can enjoy "bunny" slopes while the more experienced skier in the family can enjoy the more challenging.

Colorado has 26 ski resorts, all with unique offerings. With over 300 inches of snowfall a year, combined with 300 days of sunshine, you can't go wrong taking your ski vacation in Colorado.
