Skinny Cow Low Fat Ice Cream Sandwich: Product Review

If You Want an Ice Cream Treat That's Low Calorie yet Still Tastes Great, Try Skinny Cow!

Full fat ice cream is a delicious, creamy treat that many people love. But if you're trying to lose weight or lower your cholesterol, it's a diet no-no. I'm trying to do both, so regular ice cream is a rare indulgence. Thankfully, I've found several low fat ice cream treats that are a much healthier way to satisfy my cravings.

The Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich was the first of many low fat ice cream treats I tried, and it remains one of my favorites. The Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich comes in seven flavors, which is nice for those who aren't vanilla purists and get bored eating the same flavor over and over. All of the low fat ice cream sandwiches are sold in packages of six.

Of course, there is a Vanilla Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich (actually there are two). There's regular Vanilla which is low fat ice cream between two tasty chocolate cookie wafers. Then there is the Vanilla No Sugar Added Ice Cream Sandwich which is low fat ice cream sweetened with Splenda® instead of sugar. I find it interesting that both ice cream sandwiches have 140 calories, as I assumed sugar would have more calories than Splenda.

There is also a Chocolate Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich, but it's only available as a Vanilla/Chocolate combo with three of each flavor. I don't mind as I like both of them equally; however, chocolate ice cream fans who don't care for vanilla might be displeased with Skinny Cow for not offering the Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich in a package of six.

The other flavors of Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich include Mint, which is mint flavored low fat ice cream between chocolate wafers (140 calories); Chocolate Peanut Butter, which is chocolate and peanut butter low fat ice cream swirled together and sandwiched between two chocolate wafers (150 calories); and Cookies N Cream which has chocolate cookie bits swirled into creamy vanilla low fat ice cream, between chocolate wafers (150 calories).

The only Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich that doesn't have a chocolate cookie wafer is the Strawberry Shortcake flavor. This one is swirls of strawberry and vanilla low fat ice cream between sweet vanilla wafers (140 calories). This is a great tasting low fat ice cream sandwich and a nice option for people who don't care for chocolate.

Skinny Cow also makes several other delicious low fat ice cream treats, including a fudge bar, ice cream bars (Skinny Cow calls them dippers), truffle bars and low fat ice cream cones. I've tried most of them; some I like and others I love, but the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich is still my favorite out of all of their ice cream treats.

Apparently the Skinny Cow Ice Cream sandwich is favored by the public as well. The Skinny Cow website has a poll where you can vote for your favorite product, and the Ice Cream Sandwich is currently winning by a wide margin (50%). Cones are next with 24%, followed by the fudge bars at 19%. The ice cream bars are last with 7%.

If you're looking for low calorie, low fat ice cream treats that taste great, I highly recommend the Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich.
