Skip the Casino Hotels in Vegas and Go Camping Instead

Aside from the multitude of hotels one will find throughout the city, Las Vegas also offers other types of accommodations. Many camping areas, RV parks for the most part, can also be found around the city.

Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort

This is probably one of the very best RV resorts in the city, with it's relaxing tropical theme and residing just minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. Each site has a beautiful landscape, with full hookups. Park amenities include a beachfront family pool with waterfalls, a pool and spa just for adults, an 18-hole putting course, horseshoe pits, a fitness center, full-service restaurant, store, high-speed internet access, and a 24-hour courtesy patrol with a gate guard.

Depending on the season and site type, rates vary. Summer rates begin at $39 a day Sunday-Thursday and $44 Friday-Saturday. Winter rates start at a few dollars more.

Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort

Signature Resorts is a luxurious resort with fun amenities such as swimming pools, spas, tennis courts, and a fitness center. There are more than 400 lots here with full hookups, telephone lines and cable TV. There is also a large club house, a library and laundry facilities. Also available is the Overlook lounge, where you can dine with fine food while taking in the beatiful views of the Vegas Strip. Wireless internet access is also available. At just a couple of blocks from the Strip, it's hard to go wrong here.

Rates begin around $75 for a standard site and $90 for a premium, but there are also plenty of other options to choose from.

To get to the resort, when driving north or south on I-5, take the Blue Diamond exit. Drive west about a mile, and turn right on Arville street.

KOA Circus Circus

With over 350 lots available, the KOA Circus Circus campground is a great family-friendly resort that offeres nice landscaped spaces with patios, outdoor furniture and full hookups. Also available is the "Great Room," where you can watch TV on the big screen, use the internet, or have fun at the espresso bar. Showers, toilets, laundry facilities and pools are also provided at KOA. Aside from all of this there is also a dog run and free wireless internet access.

Located right on the Las Vegas Strip, there is fun and entertainment to be found in any direction. The Circus Circus Adventuredome is just one of the great attractions nearby.

Las Vegas RV Resort

This is a huge adult-only resort (for ages 21 and older) resort that is right in the middle of the city (just a block away from the Strip), providing a relaxing experience with a doorway to even more excitement if you so wish. Such amenities include full hookus, laundry facilities, a pool, spa, rec room, billiards, and free wireless internet access. There is also a 24 hour courtesy patrol for your safety. Pets are welcome.

Rates range from $32 to $65 a day. The resort is on Nellis, 2 blocks off Boulder Hwy, north of Sam's Town Casino Complex.

Hill Top Campground

If tent camping is what you're looking for, consider the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, a recreation that takes up over 300,000 acres and has quite a few different campgrounds to choose from. The Hill Top Campground is about half an hour from downtown Las Vegas, and includes 35 campsites with such amenities as toilets, showers and drinking water.

To get there from Las Vegas, head north in Highway 95 to the Highway 157 junction. Take left and travel 17 miles to the Highway 158 junction. Take right and head about 4 more miles.
