Skipping Meals to Lose Weight: Does Skipping Meals Help Dieters?

Is Skipping Meals the Answer for Those Trying to Lose Weight?

With so many Americans struggling to lose weight, some try to skip meals to lose the extra pounds. When skipping meals to lose weight, do dieters get results they want?

While some stuggling to lose weight have skipped certain meals for years, most will say they should be thinner considering how little they eat. Are these dieters really eating less, or forgetting to count all they eat?

With all of the diets and information given to the general public, one would think every person wanting to change their weight would know if skipping meals was the answer. Actually, many adults would probably be able to list several diets they have tried without success in their adult life, including one that required skipping meals.

Some who are new to dieting may think losing weight will be easy if a meal is skipped each day. While some will skip lunch, others exchange dinner for a small snack. However, most Americans continue to be discouraged with their weight loss results.

Dieters who try to lose weight by skipping a meal often eat more than others because they are eating too much at one meal. If calories were counted correctly, many might find the hidden extra calories on the menu. However, many who are trying to lose weight don't keep an accurate record of what has been eaten throughout the day. It is easy to forget about the extra butter on a serving of vegetables, or the extra serving of any food that seems so harmless.

Results of some studies claim that the amount of calories are all that matters, not how often food is eaten, or whether there are 3 meals or 5. Other studies show eating smaller meals throughout the day will help dieters lose more weight.
