Skydiving in Las Vegas: What They Don't Want You to Know

Skydiving Lessons: Top 5 things to consider before you leave the plane.

Following a few simple steps before your skydiving trip will prepare you mentally to have one of the most exciting adventures of your life. Before you can say you are ready to sky dive, you need to do these things:

1. Research your school. Sometimes a website is not enough and it helps to talk to an actual person. When you are learning about a skydiving school, ask about their certifications (look for USPA), their safety record, their equipment, how they arrange transportation, and what their rates are. If you feel comfortable with the reputation of the school, choose a date and book it. This is the no turning back point many people feel a little antsy about making, but if you follow the advice in this guide you'll find the whole process is easy and safe.

2. Arrange transportation and check weather beforehand. The last thing you want to do is arrive in Vegas on one of the few days in the year Vegas has bad weather. Skydiving in Las Vegas is possible year round, and considering we have an average of 310 sunny days every year, Las Vegas is a prime location for booking a dive as you are less likely than many areas of the country to have to reschedule due to bad weather.

3. On the date chosen, get picked up, driven to the skydiving airport, flown over the drop zone and, while attached to a professional instructor, you will jump out and experience the thrill that millions of others have that is skydiving. This is an experience everyone must try in their lives. There is no reason you should wait any longer (as long as you weigh less than 240 pounds) to freefall towards earth and in the process gain a newfound appreciation for life.

4. Wear comfortable clothing (jeans, shorts, t-shirt, a sweater). Remember to keep a good mental attitude about the jump in order to fight the phobias some people have about the experience of skydiving and even the process. Skydiving is easier than you might think, and after your first jump, odds are you'll be hooked.

5. Relive it again and again. That's it, then you will have memories for a lifetime and you'll be able to join those who can say "I've jumped out of a plane before, and it was awesome."

I've always envisioned myself jumping out of a plane with a bunch of Elvis impersonators, right into the center of Vegas. I love that you actually do these things.
