Skyward Sword's Weirdest Characters

Jennifer Amlie
The Legend of Zelda video game series has an enormous amount of weird characters. This trend doesn't stop in the newest release, Skyward Sword. In Skyloft, Link meets his share of strange and colorful characters, some new and some familiar. These are just a few of Skyward Sword's weirdos.

Beedle
Beedle the shopkeeper has been in other Zelda games like Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks. He's quirky, pleasant, and a bit on the goofy side. In Skyward Sword, he mans a flying shop that he powers by pedalling a bicycle. If Link doesn't purchase anything, he gets an out of character mean streak and complains about having to pedal with Link's extra weight. Beedle gets even weirder when Link takes a nap in the shop's bed. When waking up at night, Link finds himself no longer in Skyloft, but on Beedle's tiny island. If Link talks to him, it's clear that Beedle's goofy speech and personality during the day is just a front. At night, he sounds like a scholar.

Batreaux
Near the beginning of Skyward Sword, Link hears rumors that there's a demon in the town. When a little girl goes missing, Link needs to see if the rumors are true. When the demon is found, he's not what anyone was expecting. He's a coward who begs Link not to hurt him. Batreaux has befriended the little girl and he desperately wants to be human. Link is asked to help him by finding gratitude crystals. The strange thing is, once Link gives him all the crystals, Batreaux doesn't look much different.

The ghost in the bathroom
In fine Legend of Zelda tradition, there is something weird going on in the bathroom. Who can forget the hand in the toilet from Majora's Mask? In Skyward Sword, a ghost asking for paper appears in the bathroom. This strange quest can end two ways. If Link gives Cawlin's love letter to the ghost, she haunts Cawlin instead of the toilet. If Link delivers the letter to Karane, the ghost disappears and the bathroom is apparition free.

Dodoh
This very colorful character is the sole inhabitant of Fun Fun Island. It's too bad his idea of "fun" is shooting Link out of a cannon for the low price of 20 rupees. Dodah runs a mini-game where a free-falling Link must try to go through rings and avoid other obstacles in order to win cash by landing on the different colored parts of the wheel shaped island. That's not even the weirdest thing about Dodoh. He wears a flesh colored suit, clown make-up, and sticks a small colored wheel on his back. If his island wasn't strange enough, his outfit certainly is.

There are many other interesting characters and creatures in Skyward Sword from the Ancient Robot Scrapper that calls Link "Master Shortpants" to the crazy cat like creatures that meow by day, but attack at night. Skyward Sword has definitely kept alive the Zelda tradition of populating its games with weirdos.
