Slave of Tech Enclave

PenPress
From daily routine to entertainment
There is no disagreement,
Technology is now a part of life,
Even lasers can be used like knife.
Laptop screens make a 360 degree turn,
And the CD or DVD I can burn!
There is so much popularity of e-book,
See how many forms technology took!
Newspapers are available as on-line version,
Can listen to books through audio conversion.
So, innovations have facilitated pedagogy,
Cannot do anything without technology.
The world has become smaller,
But are we becoming stalker?
Cameras created picture frenzy,
And turned us into paparazzi.
Can now eavesdrop from a distance,
Also spy on others' house at a glance.
With TV to vacuum cleaner to microwave,
We have become somewhat like slave.
All are looking at the bright side,
But are we just following the tide?

In the beginning, the casual browsing on-line,
Allowed us to come out of the confine.
E-mail led to instant messaging and chatting,
Now making money on-line with blogging.
Started off with simple floppy disk,
Technology though exposed us to risk.
Need to be careful of the scammers,
Really have to watch out for spammers.
The thought of on-line exposure,
Still scares us of too much disclosure.
For the longest we've been leery of Facebook,
Don't want anybody to know how we look!
We had to learn how to be wise,
And identify the predators in disguise.
There is definitely a lot to learn,
Only if knowledge is something we yearn.
Sure, technology can be very useful,
As long as the effort is purposeful.
One thing we all have to realize,
We need to clearly prioritize,
Necessity can turn into vanity,
And technology can't replace humanity.

I still remember the guy who actually agreed to do without his cell phone for a week and broke down crying after only a few days....that kind of freaked me out that some exec couldn't figure out a work around solution for that. But he was really anxious without that cell phone, going through withdrawal pangs and everything. I wonder how many of us could do without a computer and cell phone and tv for an entire week?
