Sleep Here Now Takes a Nap

Jesse Schmitt
My wife and I have been trying to make our bed and breakfast review website, SleepHereNow , work in a meaningful way. For the last four years we have been on the road; doing write ups of the nations finest bed and breakfasts. We even created a YouTube channel and have a working version of a TV show. Sleep Here Now has been to all 48 contiguous United States and looked to be a real way to break into show business.

However earlier in the spring, we had to take stock of what we had achieved. Yes we had been to all 48 states and yes we had made some cool videos, met some amazing people and had experiences we could talk about for a lifetime. But this whole project had been self-funded and we had come up against a brick wall of sorts.

We decided to take an all-or-nothing approach and tried to fund a campaign on Kickstarter . We figured that if we could inject some new energy into this project then maybe we could continue it.

However after 30 days our goals on Kickstarter were not met and we retired the concept. We settled down in an apartment and basically had the idea for Sleep Here Now on a distant back-burner.

Until the other day when I got a job at a New York City area bed and breakfast. They asked me about our TV series and wondered if we could do a video for them too...

Jesse - First off, how did I miss the fact that you guys were on Kickstarter! You never wrote about that, did you???? I wished I'd known - I wrote a piece about Kickstarter awhile back. Secondly, I didn't realize you were trying to get it picked up by a TV series. Did you contact PBS? They were looking for new shows - you should check out their website. I tried to enter it but I think Yahoo thought I was SPAM and the comment didn't take. cheers :)
