Sleepless Nights

Some Nights, Sleep Evades Me like a Criminal Evades the Police

Thomas Griffin
"Sleepless Nights"

Sleepless nights, oh your never ending stay
Should I be excited or should I be dismayed?
You've come to visit me this eve
You've brought a small trinket for me
Thoughts perhaps? Or maybe some adrenaline?
Or what about a dose of anxiety?
You will never know, but either way
I'm sure you are quite pleased
You've intrigued me into communicating
The ideas that you've set in my mind
And for what it is worth, I must cast a grin
Oh sleepless nights, how you amaze me!

I've had those 'sleepless nights' and it always amazes me that in the morning, whatever it was is usually gone :) Cheers.

    They're annoying, aren't they?

Sleepless nights that don't give you ideas are horrible! I'm having a sleepless night tonight, but my mind is spinning with ideas and creativity, so I'm ok with it. :)

Interesting piece analyzing the eternal why? of nature through personification. I also enjoy your word choices such as "trinket". Well-done!

I have had several lately. I get only around 4-6 hours of sleep anyway. Very fatigued & again at 330am. Make coffee and and toast. Off to work. A part time janitor in search of full time work. I've sold not one book, am in debt, yet Jesus I praise you this moring. I know I am nearing the end. A father & grandfather, the daylight is about over & the dark , when I shall work no more is over.
