Sleepless Nights

Tye Martin

Sometimes as I lay awake at night,
I feel your presence without mere sight.
I feel your spirit touching mine,
While our souls rhythmically intertwine.

I feel your heartbeat in my chest,
And hold your emotions at my breasts.
Your heart and soul seem so familiar,
And the desire and longing so peculiar.

Longing for a love that has never been known,
Expressing feelings not ever shown.
Longing for a love that has no name,
Not ever knowing if you'll feel the same.

We met before, but only for a minute,
But every since then, my heart has been in it.
Not letting me sleep, keeping me awake,
Creating these feelings I cannot shake.

What am I to do but love from a distance,
For only time will tell with the power of persistence.

Tye, you know how I feel about your writing and the TRUTH and PASSION in which you emerse yourself. Your writing style mimics the style of the Song Of Solomon. Wonderful.

Hello Tye. I gave a 5-star but the ratings didn't switch; sometimes AC is broken like that. Persistence indeed...... Sometimes it's also amusing to see the "You May Also Like" pieces that I believe are generated by the AC computer based on keywords; the first for this piece is "Boogie Nights (1997)." ???? Oh well, verse must run among Martins because A.C. Martin and Cynthia Martin also are poets. Take care. -- Mike
