I went to my local health food store and was overwhelmed by the many melatonin products available. There was a long row of bottles of different brands that all looked pretty much the same and it was so confusing. My eye was caught by a little black rectangular shaped hard plastic box with a white label and red writing. The product was called Sleepynol and I purchased it for under $10.
Sleepynol is a dietary supplement manufactured by Euroshine, USA, Inc. Each lozenge contains melatonin (as complex 34%) 14.7 mg and 1 mg elderberry. Other ingredients are sorbitol, sweet fiber, natural flavors, citric acid and magnesium sterate. Each package contains 24 - 5 mg lozenges.
The directions on the Sleepynol label say to let one lozenge dissolve under your tongue 15 to 30 minutes prior to bedtime. You are not supposed to take more than 2 daily, unless recommended by your doctor. Let the tablet dissolve in the mouth, do not chew the tablet, preferably position the tablet under the tongue and allow to dissolve slowly. I liked the fact that it was a lozenge, as many swallowed medications, make me nauseous.
Each night, I melt one of the Sleepynol lozenges under my tongue. It has a pleasant berryish grape flavor. I get sleepy very quickly and I wake up refreshed! I have never been groggy in the mornings nor have I experienced any negative side effects. I also have not been nauseous after taking one, which was one of my major concerns. I have been taking it for about four months now and I am still very happy with the results.
I highly recommend Sleepynol for minor sleep disorders, but if you are on other medications or have a more serious problem, you may want to check with your health care practitioner before trying it.
