There is not much to say about this gift idea guide. The title of the article pretty much sums it up. However it should be noted that while it indeed sums up the theme I've used to make my shopping ideas list here, it in no way even hints at the intensity and level of disturbing factor you may witness once you've read about and then actually clicked on a link to view these weird items.

So cat lover or not, I greatly encourage anyone with a sense of humor, a weak stomach, an adoration for cats, or an active role in supporting the radical PETA group (People Against the Ethical Treatment for Animals, that is) to at least browse this list once. Indulge me. I promise it will be worth it even if your out loud laugh is not more than a slight smile in spite of yourself.

I have always been greatly opposed to weapons or any type of contraption that could do so much as slightly resemble a gun, so I tend to stay far away from things like the gift idea I am about to recommend to you. This item, also from the What on Earth Catalog and store is just plain bizarre. But I do believe there are at least a handful of people out there, some of which may be on your holiday gift list, who would thoroughly enjoy this bathroom hilarity.

I can only attempt to do so by encouraging you to picture a toilet seat with a rug underneath. Picture the lid of the toilet closed. Now picture the entire toilet seat and body contraption in addition to the floor mat it sits upon somehow resembling a cat.

And I'm not just talking about oh, you know your usual cat décor that just so happens to have been designed on a bathroom toilet seat cover, oh no this is much more elaborate. This bizarre gift item was made apparently to look as if a cat is somehow sitting inside and halfway outside (sort of as if the seat cover was over its head like a big flotation device) very properly and gazing up at you. The design creates such a strange effect that you and your guests or whoever happens upon this extremely um..."different" bathroom accessory will likely have to do a double take each time you use the bathroom just because it really looks that much like there's a cat hanging out not just in or by your toilet but as a part of it.

Cat Bottom Pencil Sharpener

Now for yet another slightly disturbing piece of cat propaganda also serving as a bizarre gift: introducing the Cat Bottom Pencil Sharpener. No I am not joking about the product official name. And "bottom" isn't some weird synonym for a random piece of an elegant and beautiful item either. Oh no, this weird item might as well provide a descriptive title somewhere along the lines of "Pencil shavings as cat poop."

Because essentially that is pretty much all this product is about.

I had to include it on my list of disturbing cat related gift ideas, not because I actually encourage someone to purchase this cat (who, mind you is in full and ready position to receive your pencil from behind and poop out the shavings). I think my motivation for including it was instead some sort of half hearted way to document its existence, you know, mark some words about it on my typed document so that in the morning when I'm convinced I could only have dreamed of such a odd and lets face it GROSS, item, I can reread these notes click on the provided link and see for myself that we live in a really "interesting" era of time, as a society.

I have chosen the most disturbing of all the weird cat gifts I came across to conclude this Slightly Disturbing Cat Related Gift Guide. You'll have to click on the link to see it for yourself and get the full effect so I'm going to limit my description of the item but let's just say that I don't usually get offended by jokes such as the one you will see on the for sale t-shirt once you click on the below link. I usually in fact find them pretty funny, which I'm imagining is exactly the reaction that the makers of this piece of clothing and the catalog that carries it are looking to stir up.

But I really don't find it funny. I don't think I really even find it gross, as it doesn't disturb me in a way that is inappropriate. I think what made me put this on the list of Slightly Disturbing Cat Related Gift Ideas is the implication that such an item would have a wide and enthusiastic appeal. I mean, it's in a very well known and highly acclaimed catalog. It must strike some people as the perfect gift for themselves or others, right? Why else would it still be featured? I mean really. It's not even on clearance!

Who likes this sort of joke? Again let it be known it does not offend me. While eating cats is not my cup of tea, well, you can joke about it in midst of a conversation anytime and maybe I'd even chuckle out loud. But to glorify the topic so much as to print it on a t-shirt and sell it in a catalog really suggests it has a following of appreciators. And while I'd love (absolutely love) to meet one of these people who fall down laughing from such a phrase I also respect that, despite my ill feelings for it, it really may be a hot item and I really may be just in the dark. In other words, my dear readers I have kept it on the list for all of you. Hey what do I know. This might be one of the catalogs hottest sellers.
