Slim's Diner on Montrose Opens

When I met my cousin at her work recently, she suggested that we check out the recently-opened Slim's Diner located at 2020 West Montrose in the Ravenswood neighborhood. Since she works close by and we didn't feel like driving far, we decided to try it. I really wasn't expecting too much, because I figured it would be like so many other little diners or beef places that I'd been before, but when we walked in, I knew we were on to something. I had the Italian beef and curly fries and it was so good that I couldn't remember the last time I had a "beef" that was that tasty. The beef itself was seasoned to perfection, with just the right amount of spices and "juice." The curly fries were just as good, but they really didn't taste like the curly fries that I was used to from other fast food places. They were almost kind of "gourmet-ish."

The prices on the menu were very reasonable, and I don't recall seeing any items priced higher than $6.50 or so. The 50's style is very cute and fun, decorated in black, white and red. Although Slim's is quite a distance from where I live, when I visit my cousin again in Ravenswood, I know where I'll want to eat.
