Okay, it's not all that hard to find something that provides and hides an extra roll of toilet paper. You can buy one version that looks like a coffee can with lid. Or, if you crochet, you can make an adorable cover for a single roll. But you don't really have to spend a lot of time or money to make sure there's always an extra roll of concealed toilet paper within reach. If you've got a piece of fabric, felt, or even plastic, you can make a cute bathroom tissue holder.
There are lots of ways to make a tissue paper sling that keeps a spare roll nearby. Cut a piece of material to be 22"x10". Fold the material in half, lengthways, with right sides together. Sew across one short side, and down one long side, then turn the arrangement right-side-out. Sew the opening shut and press.
One way to finish the sling is to sew the ends together. Then, slide a pretty ribbon through the fabric cylinder, and position it where the seam is. Use the ribbon to tie the spare roll sling onto the regular toilet paper dispenser. Tie it so that the sling hangs below the original dispenser. Another way to finish up the arrangement is to bring the ends together, then use push-pins to attach the sling to the wall, below the regular bathroom tissue dispenser. With the latter version, you can hang more than one sling. Just make another cloth cylinder, and push-pin it to the wall, below the first one.
Instead of fabric, you can use a piece of felt, or a piece of plastic, like a section cut from a disposable tablecloth. For this one, there's no need to sew or hem. Just cut the plastic or felt to be 11"x10, fold it in half, and push-pin it to the wall.
To use the toilet paper sling, open the loop of fabric or plastic, and slide the roll into it. If you want to make it into a dispenser as well, cut a slit in one area of the sling, and pull the end of the paper through it. If you've made a cloth sling, hem around the slit. With the plastic version that's not necessary.
You'll never worry about running out of bathroom tissue when you make a sling or two for the bathroom. Whether you make the sewn version, or the other, the sling is useful and extremely easy to make.
