Slipknot to Release Live Performance DVD

Richard Banks
When you think of Iowa, what are the thoughts that come to your mind? Images of flat lands and acres of corn are first and foremost. Our nation's 29th state came to be over 170 years ago. Whether you think of the agriculture or the Iowa caucuses, Iowa is a great state. But, what comes to my mind when I think of Iowa is one of the greatest rock/heavy metal bands of all time, Slipknot.

Slipknot is a Heavy metal band known for its riveting and electrifying performances. They are also known for their unique and often considered grotesque masks used for their stage performances. Slipknot had a humble beginning in America's heartland some 18 years ago with a lineup of three members, Shawn "Clown" Crahan, Paul Gray, and Anders Colsefini. Within the following years, the band grew to its current lineup of nine. Sadly, Paul Gray passed away May 2010, reducing the membership total to eight.

Through the ups and down of any music career, Slipknot has seen its share of successes. They have had albums certified platinum as well as awarded a Grammy. But the critically acclaimed album All Hope is Gone debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts. This accomplishment was the bands first in its existence. With several albums as well as DVD recordings released, Slipknot is releasing (sic)nesses on September 28, 2010.

On June 13, 2009, Slipknot performed at the UK's Download Festival and gave one of their most electrifying concerts to date. With over 30 cameras to capture the raw emotions of heavy metals' kings, Slipknot performed in front of a crowd of over 80,000. This performance was especially moving because this was the last major performance of founding member, Paul Gray. Roadrunner Records, the band's record label has released the details of their upcoming DVD.
