Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi: Best, Top Eighties Rock Albums

Michael Martin
Bon Jovi, the rock band out of Sayreville, New Jersey, hit it big with the release of their third album, Slippery When Wet, in 1986. The album was recorded in Canada, and it's widely considered one of the most successful albums of all time. You Give Love a Bad Name, Livn' on a Prayer, and Wanted Dead or Alive were giant hits off Slippery When Wet. When released, these songs dominated the radio airwaves. They ruled MTV videos of their era. These songs still get a fair amount of radio play today, and although it's music from the 1980s, people of younger generations know these songs well.

Even the single Never Say Goodbye, although it isn't one of my favorites, hit number 28 on the Billboard chart. The track listing is as follows:

Let It Rock - 5:25

You Give Love a Bad Name - 3:44

Livn' on a Prayer - 4:09

Social Disease - 4:18

Wanted Dead or Alive - 5:08

Raise Your Hands - 4:16

Without Love - 3:30

I'd Die for You - 4:30

Never Say Goodbye - 4:48

Wild in the Streets - 3:54

Some interesting facts about Slippery When Wet:

1. Slippery When Wet was named the top selling album in 1987 by Billboard.

2. Slippery When Wet stayed number one on the Billboard 200 for fifteen weeks.

3. You Give Love a Bad Name and Livn' on a Prayer both reached number one. Bon Jovi became the first rock band with two consecutive number one singles.

4. Wanted Dead or Alive reached number seven on the Billboard 100.

5. The lead vocalist, Jon Bon Jovi, initially was going to leave off Livn' on a Prayer because he didn't think the song was good enough. That's hard to believe considering the radio play this song still gets today.
