Slow Awakening

Louisa Burgess
In and out of slumber I lay
half awake to the noise of the day

I listen and snooze some more
hoping there is no one at the door

A dream sits waiting unfinished for me
subconscious thoughts of what will or could be

Lying here under sheets and blankets I feel
safe and warm in a condition not real

People who jump out of bed to the morning sun
don't know the wonders but get more done

"A dream sits waiting unfinished for me"-What a powerful expression!Everyone in the world,I am sure, experiences this phenomenon. But only your poem has given an expression for that experience. You are a wonderful poet.Even though you are younger in age,you have got the maturity in thought to give a classical poem.Hats off to you.
