With the new "working mom" came the multi-million dollar business of day cares. Oh, yes, now we need two cars, with double insurance premiums. Let's see, mom needs new clothes for the work place (Don't forget all those matching shoes and handbags!), and dad needs suits and business casual clothing! Junior/Sissy needs cute clothes everyday for day care. No more jeans and t-shirts, and no more little sun suits and diapers - nope!
Ah-Ha! -- What do you mean lunch isn't free?!?
The working family eats out more, spending more money. We all are faced with always increasing day care costs, rising fuel costs, car upkeep, lost wages due to junior/sissy getting sick..... What a merry-go-round we are on!
How we all made fun of homemaker June Cleaver!
Take a moment to think. Look at a one year calendar. Imagine how good it would feel to stop wasting money!
But wait!! If you stay home you could search for a work-at-home-job!! No special clothes, probably still have two cars but the fuel would be almost cut in half. Moms can even cook!,-- a unique idea in this day and age - and she can take care of her own children instead of paying someone else to raise them. Holly Cow!! Dad could do this also! He could be the stay at home parent and also work from home! (There are a growing number of businesses that are outsourcing their work to employees that are home-based; we should all look for a job like that!)
OK. Some families have already figured out this gem of life.
However, there are those among us that have no idea how to take the steps to save, stay home, and perhaps find a career that allows these things. By taking a calendar and laying out steps that fit each person individually it can happen!
The Internet is the answer to so many things now days and just a little searching finds numerous sites with work at home opportunities. Finding something that is legitimate is not hard as there are also Internet sites that have done the research on legitimate or scam propositions. Find something that interests you and try it. Try a number of work -at-home jobs till you find one or maybe several that you enjoy. Perhaps these jobs do not pay what a corporate position down town pays but the expenses are so much less it seems to balance out!
So, the days of June Cleaver were may have not been so bad!
The money saved on fuel and clothing alone would pad a nice savings, or pay for a family vacation (yes, people really use to do that). The possibilities are endless!
With a one year plan the transition will be painless! (Well, ok, almost!) They do sell coffee pots for the home, that's what people did before Starbucks! They made coffee themselves! McDonald's use to be the only fast-food place and was a treat, now home cooking is the treat!
Look what we have done to ourselves! It's time to regress to a more simple life style.
Slow the pace down one day at a time, one month at a time, and one year will bring fulfillment that will last a lifetime.
You can do this.
