Slumdog Millionaire

Before I start laying down by coercive review of 'Slumdog Millionaire' I shall just share a bit of gossip about up and coming movies that I would quite look forward to watching. One of them is Wolverine because on the trailer it showed Gambit, now Gambit and Wolverine story in comics as a boy is all I seem to remember, so definitely up for that both these characters are cool. So that's me tapping into my pubescent stage, and more related to favorite teenage memories of American TV that replaced the A - Team viewing is the gossip mentioned at movies.com is the up and coming release of Macgyver. Why Macgyver well if you know the show then you will remember him as being the genius who made many of his on gadgets. His interdependence on his engineering skills and scientific knowledge puts him up there with all the super-hero greats but presents a humanistic hero who as if I remember (teens were a but misty) was a big inspiration. Yes definitely Macgyver made a good role model for a guy who watched far to much TV.

Interestingly this preamble about my youthful memories can only have stemmed from 'Slumdog Millionaire' because although I have a 90's style telly still this film is, wait I am getting confused with a foreign film I watched last week on telly about a boy in an Afghanistan village who set up a satellite dish in his village (a bit of a Mcgyver junior from the Middle East), he was about twelve and he wore glasses fixed together with plasters. He exchanged mines and weapons he found on campus, for telecommunication devices. Sorry about rambling about another really awesome film which for the life of me I cannot think of the title, if I remember I shall post it below in the comments.

So why did 'Slumdog Millionaire' absolutely smash the box office here in Britain? Is it because of the National pride of Channel Four Movies, or there discovery of a good young Asian actor? I could be many differing factors, but I would say by cutting to the chase it's just an extremely good film. Very grim portrayal of life in the ghetto's of India, however the collage of events and the effective use of credits and fonts, the fantastic narrative and the sometimes utterly vile humorous events that occur are balanced at a point where you ultimately forget just what the hell is really going on.

It's a fast film, lots of chases down back alleys, it's a film that progress's in it's time-line throughout the film, it's got trouble and it includes passion, it picks up on some impersonal topics which will not make you feel to uncomfortable, because possibly of the location. However 'Slumdog Millionaire' does represent many positive and negative representations of urbanization. This is reinforced by the technical skills of a telecommunicationist, constantly linked by the popular quiz show Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It draws upon mans natural doubt about skull duggery in television quiz shows, yet represents the nations pride of supporting anyone who reaches the point where they appear to have a fighting chance of beating the system.

Without giving to much of the game away this film is great you gotta see it, it definitely packs a punch, as I am writing this now whilst I still have the chance maybe I go see it again on the big screen. Hopefully I catch it a Prince Charles or something like this. If you miss it at the cinema, this film would probably make a good DVD or Blue Ray. It's quite a long film, well no longer than normal films these days, but the anchoring of a few clever avant garde tricks of filmography keep you there watching 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Noticeably you may be thinking, "Why is Rob getting on the bandwagon of 'Slumdog Millionaire'?" Because in all fairness before I saw it, even prior to watching the producers, directors and actors receiving awards even before it hit the cinema, it still did not care if I watched this film or not. Boy am I stupid, trust me this is a good film, not innately good and not even intentionally good I don't think, however I do seem to remember watching on TV that the makers did know this film was going to have an impression. However I'm sure they would not have envisioned how big it really was. Again time will tell, but in conclusion I will put myself out on a limb and say this film will stand the test of time, I just hope every other film I see in the next two years is just another remake of this type of film. It's original and that's why it's cool. Now it may not be original in Bollywood standards, I don't really know because as am sure you've picked up on I'm not the best advocate of anything outside of me and the telly, however i will reiterate what's already been said again and again, this is a good film.
