Mrs. Renee
It can be very difficult when it comes to decorating a small kitchen. The key is to try and make your kitchen look bigger than it is. That is why it is so important to take the time to pick the right color, and the right décor to give your small kitchen a big, yet comfortable feel to it.

The first thing that you need to decide on is your color scheme. When you want to make a room feel larger you want to use lighter colors. In some cases you may find that by patient your walls different shades of the same color you will give it an even nicer spacious affect. Try to choose a color that works with the items that you already have in your kitchen. Usually the focal point of your kitchen is your cabinets. If you don't want to paint them or change the color than use the color of your cabinets as your color theme for the room. You can purchase your paint at your local hardware store, or your local Home Depot and Loews store.

If you have windows in your kitchen than you will want to try letting as much light in the room as possible. Using natural light is a very affordable way to make a small room feel larger. Use decorative curtains on your kitchen windows that will go well with your wall colors. If you don't want curtains on your kitchen windows than you could always try using decorative blinds. Remember even with the blinds it's all about the color. Your local fabric shop will usually have affordable kitchen curtains for sale.

When it comes to your pots and various kitchen accessories try hanging hooks under your cabinets or in an area that you have space for hooks. They you can hang up your smaller kitchen accessories such as potholders on the hooks. Even your pots can hang on the hooks and it will add a nice touch to your kitchen. In order to stack items you could use plain racks. This will also give you more space. In order to avoid a cluttered look you could try adding additional racks inside of your kitchen cabinets. This way your items stay hidden and you have the extra space. You can find affordable hooks and racks at your local dollar store or at your local target store. Home Depot also usually has the hooks and racks but your will probably end up paying a few dollars more.

Your kitchen floors can also destroy the entire look of your room. If you have wooden kitchen floors than you can just leave them the way they are. The wood floors usually like wonderful with light colored walls. If you have a tiled kitchen floor like most do, then you may want to adjust the color of the floor tiles to one that matches the rest of the kitchen color scheme. Purchasing new tiles can be very affordable and are easy to install yourself. You can find floor tiles at your local Home Depot or Loews store. Even Wal-Mart and Target sell floor tiles.
