Small Steps the Sequel to Holes

Have you ever wondered what happens at the end of a book? What happens to the other characters? Well, Small Steps written by Louis Sachar is just that. It is a sequel to his other book, Holes. It is a book that explains what happens to the other characters after the book Holes. Armpit, the protagonist in Small Steps, lives in Austin, Texas, sharing a duplex. He has an average job landscaping or digging holes. This is what he had done at Camp Green Lake, so he was very good at it. One day Armpit was digging when his friend from Camp Green Lake, X-ray, pulled in with an idea. He wanted to take part in a ticket-scalping enterprise. When it came down to the last two concert tickets, Armpit wanted them for himself.

X-ray gave the tickets to Armpit, but they were counterfeit. Armpit didn't know this. He took his neighbor Ginny, who he shares the duplex with, to the concert. At the concert, Ginny had a seizure because of the counterfeit concert tickets. These tickets just so happened to get them backstage where they met Kaira, the singer. Kaira felt bad so she took them backstage to see the show. Armpit and Kaira actually became good friends and Armpit was Kaira's boyfriend. Kaira flew Armpit out on a private jet they had sent him to go to Los Angels to see her. When he got there they went to get coffee and she got mad at him and left him. She ran back to the hotel and was ambushed by her manager. He beat her up with a bat and stabbed her bodyguard with a knife. As this was happening Armpit ran in and saved them although they were both severely injured. They both never got around to thanking Armpit but he was called the "Hero" all around the world for saving Kaira's life.

This book was written to entertain the readers. I think Louis Sachar wanted to let readers know that all the other campers at Camp Green Lake didn't just disappear. He wanted the readers to know what really happened to them and how they are living there life. So he showed how Armpit and X-ray were living. He also may have entertained many readers from the pop music that Kaira sang. People listen to pop and hip-hop these days and that's what Kaira's sang. He also wanted to inform readers that one way or another someone will find out about something bad involving you. So it may persuade people not to lie their way out of things and to do things that are better. Sooner or later it will come back to get you.

I would recommend this book to people who think about what happens after books. This book lets readers know what happens to the characters after the book Holes. It is also a good book for those who are into pop music. I read this book because I wondered about where the other characters from Camp Green Lake had gone. When I heard about this book I picked it up and couldn't put it down. Small Steps was a very good book and was very detailed from start to finish. Mostly after reading holes, I think this would be a good choice for your next book to read.
