Several weeks ago I found a game on Facebook called Nanotown. I am avid fan of SimCity and have played several other city sims on Facebook before this one. While it is not the best city sim on facebook it does have some unique features that are worth a look.

First, like most city sims, you must put down streets, housing, and commercial buildings. Unlike most of them though, each building has a distinct function in the town. Missions are completed by objects your businesses produce (Wi-Fi for instance) and these items pop up quite frequently throughout game play.

This was also the first game I found that had vehicles on the streets. You actually have to buy those vehicles and place them on the road then they just wander aimlessly. But having an SUV wandering your roads does add a nice little touch to the game.

Now for the bad side. The game becomes very redundant very quickly. Your buildings aren't all shaped the same, some rectangle and some various sized squared. Some building do nothing but provide cash, and rarely (if ever) seem to produce missions. Some buildings only produce goods. And some of them only consume them.

The vehicles are pretty much identical except for color and size; they wander aimlessly; and have no game value what-so-ever. Buildings are very bleak and, except for a couple of the businesses, are basically the same.

If not for the missions, which become redundant quickly, this game would get tedious and boring fast. As it is, the game gets boring quickly and there is nothing visually to hold your attention beyond a few hours of play. Given enough time and work this COULD be a great game. The content needs to be worked out, the graphics improved, and the sounds revamped. Overall I would say try it, then move to something with better graphics.

If you like City Sims, this game will be fun for a time. If you are not a City Sim fan you will probably want to try something else with more content or else you might get the wrong feeling for City Sims.
