Perry, MI 48872
United States of America
Perry is a small town in Miid-Michigan and I live in the heart of it. From my home I can walk to the town library. My toddler can play with the toy train while I borrow a movie for one dollar a week. Next we can stroll to the fireplace store and browse unique gifts and crafts. And then cross Main Street to the candle store and antique shop upstairs. All three blocks of downtown are lovely in the spring and summer with flower boxes and benches to enjoy. There are several small businesses, even a mattress store and a dune buggy store! Of course, there's the post office and a full service gas station that's the same price as the self-serve elsewhere. Down the road is tanning, salons, grocery store, and a pharmacy. Everything you need very close.
People in Perry are kind and for the most part, get along quite well. Development and progress bring controversy as the community grows. The local paper often has occasional rousing letters to the editor. People care about the community, the schools and the reputation.
A unique thing about such a small town is the number of chuches. There are at least 8 churches representing just as many denominations. The folks here have faith and love to worship together.
Festivals and gatherings are common. Spring is marked by city-wide garage sales and farmer's markets. Fireworks ring in July. Perry-fest brings in the fall. And in the winter, Mudgefest with sled races and hot chili warm our families.
Perry, Michigan is a growing city with much of it's workforce commuting to nearby Lansing and Flint. I-69 hugs the town and brings travellers to our fast food restaurants and gas stations. The schools are strong and property is valuable. This is a desirable place to live and the market value and property taxes prove it.
I'm thrilled to be back in Perry with a family of my own. My son will enjoy the same warm small town that his mother and father enjoyed growing up.
