Just barely out of high school, 18 year old Alexandria Mills, Miss USA was crowned Miss World when she won the prestigious title at the pageant held in Sanya, China on Sat. Oct. 30,2010. Miss Mills who hails from Kentucky was lovingly nicknamed "KFC" for Kentucky Fried Chicken, by the other contestants was not considered to be the likely winner.

The small town beauty form Louisville, Kentucky who was among 116 contestants that represented their countries from around the world emerged as the surprise winner and took over the title of Miss World at the 60th annual pageant. Miss Mills, with the new nickname "KFC" said she considers herself to be a vegetarian, so it's rather ironic that she has that new nickname.

Described as a tall, humble, French horn playing beauty, the new Miss World has future aspirations of being a school teacher. I'm sure winning this new crown certainly won't deter that goal for her. She is the first American to win the title since 1990. Mills is currently a fashion model listed with the Elite Model agency.

Alexandria Mills, Miss USA and now Miss World 2010 was said to have impressed the judges partially with her motto "the best things in life are worth waiting for, fighting for, believing in and just never letting go". In her bio she wrote, "I never met a stranger and I enjoy meeting new people". The Southern Belle shed tears of joy as she accepted the crown of Miss World from Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar, the 2009 Miss World. For the crowning ceremony, Miss Mills was dressed in an ivory colored gown, which was absolutely gorgeous.

The Miss USA contestant beat out the early favorite winner Miss Norway and also Miss China, the contestant from the host country, who was also considered to be the possible winner.

In a 60th year celebration of the pageant, organizers brought back contestants from past decades to give the night a retrospective theme. Overall it was a spectacular event, made even more spectacular for the United States being Miss USA was awarded the 2010 crown.
