If you are planning on visiting the region of Central New York, then you might be pleased to know that, other than the larger cities such as Syracuse, there are a number of smaller towns and villages that are an excellent way to spend a weekend. Whether you want to wander along the shores of the beautiful Finger Lakes or just drink in the atmosphere of a small town, then you should definitely pay a visit to the Central New York Region.

Skaneateles

Located on one of the most beautiful of the Finger Lakes, this small town in Central New York is a draw for all types of tourists and others who want to take in the natural beauty and the clear waters of Skaneateles Lake. The streets of this splendid little village are full of a wide variety of shops that are full of goods and other things to do, and there are several restaurants that are sure to provide you with an excellent meal. When you're finished, you can also stay in one of the great hotels in the area, which provide you the most in comfort and luxury.

Cazenovia

This small town in Central New York provides you with the best of both worlds. During one day you can stroll down the main street of the town, visiting the numerous small shops that are located in the village. However, if you want to take in some of the beautiful natural scenery for which New York is famous, you can also visit the nearby Chittenango Falls, which is one of the most significant landmarks in the nearby area. You can also visit the lovely campus of Cazenovia College.

Hamilton

This college town, which is home to the prestigious Colgate University, has all of the charms that you could ask for in a typical college town. In addition to the usual run of taverns and bars (which are sometimes a great way to spend a night on the town), you can also take a leisurely stroll through the University Bookstore, which is located in the center of the town. You can also visit a splendid little hardware store, an independent grocery (which has one of the most eclectic and various collections of herbs and spices you are likely to see in Central New York), and a number of other unique shops and restaurants that call this town home. You will definitely enjoy your visit to this little town in Central New York.

    I lived in Western NY for the first 21 years of my life~The towns you mentioned I remember seeing as we traveled along the NYS Thruway~Your article brought an air of nostalgia of good days past~
