Smaller Now

back before the world decided i was outside
of the inside
back before i knew
i'd have to stay there

when i was small, down underneath
the big round kitchen table
i wasn't lonely
didn't know
that i could be

when i was small, huge in my mind
the center of the universe

i was still

and i spun my dizzy way
into the corners of the walls
and i was bleeding on their party
and i cried

and i could hear their voices
all the big ones on the other side
the wall was never thick enough
to hide

back before i was small
i was the biggest thing on earth
i have the photographic evidence to prove
that way back long ago
before my memory was solid
i existed
i was somewhere
i was home.
