Smallville Season 8 Episode 5 Committed: What Did I Think?

The teaser: Amusing toast by Lois. By the look on Jimmy's face during that hug, I suppose the jealousy still hasn't subsided -- how long are they gonna drag that out? Awkward "I just got shot" acting by Allison and Aaron, but how can you not be awkward when pretending to get shot?

The rest: I liked the music during the living room scene between Clark and Lois. I also liked the scene of them walking around from the some shop, especially when Clark pulled her out of the way of the incoming taxi like it was no big deal, ha!

The jewelry shop scene between Clark, Lois, and Oliver was pretty funny. I'm just wondering -- was Oliver mad at Clark or jealous because he was "getting married" to his ex?

...Or maybe Jimmy won't be jealous anymore after all, now that Chloe passed the lie detector test.

Lois is providing quite a few chuckles for me in this episode. I certainly did get one out of her "son of a bitch" reaction to being shot (so much better than awkward shootings acted out onscreen). And as soon as the jeweler spoke, I knew he was the bad guy so no surprise there. That's the way it always is on SV.

Oh my goodness! Torture scene between Clark and Lois was intense. Kudos to Erica -- I could see the fear in her glossy eyes and hear the tremor in her voice as she was trying to convince crazy jeweler they weren't even a couple. Just great throughout the scene.

And kudos to Tom -- he just exudes Superman-on-the-horizon in the escape and rescue. I almost screamed "hell yeah" at the head butt, and I'm so glad that he had the foresight to come up with a plan for getting rid of that kryptonite. No one other rescuer need apply in this case; Clarkie took care of it on his own. I also loved the expression on Tom's face when Clark realized Lois hadn't just lied. It seemed to be a mix of shock and questioning.

Jimmy's confusion about the parents? Lame!

Tess and Oliver? Not really interested and so cliche, except for the gender role reversal. "I had an itch and you scratched it"? Ouch.

Tom's great with the expressions again in the elevator scene. You could see the disappointment on his face when Lois said she took the sensor off her finger before answering that question. But is his disappointment because he has some feelings for her or he liked the idea of someone liking him like that?

All in all, a very enjoyable episode for me and one that I'd watch again.
