The cosmetic procedure is invasive, but much less invasive than liposuction, since all it involves is the doctor inserting a small laser fiber into the fat deposit trough a small cannula. The laser's energy is used to destroy fat cells, which drain away with little to no effect on the rest of the body tissue. Then, a mild suction massages the broken up fat out of the body. Some of the fat remains in the body but is absorbed and removed through the natural body waste process. This will happen within 24 hours of the cosmetic procedure.
The cosmetic procedure is conducted very quickly and usually only takes about an hour total. The patient usually requires about a day to recover. Usually bed rest and fluid is recommended after the cosmetic procedure is completed. After spending a day resting, the patient should have no trouble returning to work or school and other activities.
Before deciding to use Smartlipo for cosmetic treatment, patients should be aware that the results are not immediate. Unlikea cosmetic treatment such as traditional liposuction, the fat is lost gradually over time, so it will usually take 12 weeks or longer to receive full resuts. Most people start to notice a change about 3 or 4 weeks after the cosmetic treatment. The advantage of the time it takes to complete this cosmetic treatment is that it looks much more natural than other forms of weight loss. A common complaint from those who have receieved traditional liposuction is that it looks very "fake." This is not the case with Smartlipo-those who receive the cometic procedure may have to wait several weeks to notice a huge difference, but when they do it is worth the weight, because not only will the weight loss be even and natural, the skin will end up tight and firm without being frozen in place like after receiving a cosmetic procedure such as traditional liposuction.. Also, there is no resulting bumpiness later on. The incisions are small enough that the patient does not require any stitches, although there may be a few small incisions from the laser fiber that need to heal but this is a quick and painless process.
Those interested in Smartlipo must remember that it is not a quick fix. Not only do results take three months or longer, it is more than possible for unsightly fat deposits to return to the body if the patient does not engage in healthy eating and exercise behaviors. Smartlipo destroys fat from the most difficult spots but never provides a guarantee against that fat returning. That is why Smartlipo professionals will recommend that patients begin or continue engaging in exercise activities at least 4 times a week for half an hour to an hour, and eating a sensible diet. If this wise advice is followed, then the patient who undergoes the Smartlipo cosmetic procedure will easily be able to maintain a great looking body for years to come!
