A laser is used to liquefy fat within the fat cells which makes it easier to remove with a small suction cannula. Thermal heat from this process promotes skin tightening and further smoothing of the skin. Recovery with SmartLipo is faster and easier compared to traditional liposuction and produces little to no discomfort, and less trauma to surrounding tissues. As opposed to traditional liposuction, the incisions are very small and patients can return to work in one to two days. Patients wear compression garments for four to five weeks versus months that traditional liposuction patients endure.
SmartLipo is considered safer than traditional liposuction because it does not require general anesthesia. With general anesthesia comes risks. Local anesthesia is used with SmartLipo and patients remain awake. Smaller incisions mean less trauma and risk for infection.
There are not multiple treatments needed with SmartLipo. One treatment is all that is needed, just like the old school liposuction. There are non-invasive treatments that claim to reduce body circumference which require multiple treatments. SmartLipo offers obvious results . Patients can see that removed fat after the procedure and before and after pictures to show the obvious change in body shape as well.
Lipodissolve involves a round of medicated injections with several requirements. Inflammation and tenderness may occur in the treated area. It works for some patients and not in others. Some lipodissiolve patients undergo several treatments with no results. Others are happy with lipodissolve. SmartLipo is FDA-approved, whereas Lipodissolve is not.
For patients with higher volumes of fat, you can have Vaser Liposelection performed in combination with SmartLipo. Your physician will customize treatments according to your body mass index (BMI). For patients with a low BMI, SmartLipo is normally performed. For those with a higher BMI, Vaser Liposelection can be used. It tightens the skin and there is less down-time and postoperative discomfort.
Most physicians schedule follow-ups at regular intervals after the procedure so you can call at any hour with questions or concerns.

SmartLipo is absolutely amazing. My girlfriend has just had it done as it was an alternative to 'the knife' and the results were just as good!
