Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara Review

False Lash in a Tube

Smashbox is a very popular cosmetic brand. It's what I consider one of those expensive trendy brands. I've heard a lot of about Smashbox products and how well they work. In fact many of my favorite makeup gurus uses Smashbox products and until recently I've never actually tried any of their products. A received Sephora's deluxe mascara sampler as a gift and among the ten mascaras that was in this box was Smashbox's Lash DNA mascara.

What Smashbox's Lash DNA was design to do is lengthen and curl your lashes. It contains complex proteins and amino acids that adheres to the lashes to give it length and curl, all while conditioning and restoring damaged lashes. Smashbox's Lash DNA brush has a double helix design to it which was meant to help with the lengthening and separating, to give your lashes a fanned out look.

There were several aspects to Smashbox's Lash DNA mascara that I liked. I liked that it didn't smudge or smeared if I just happened to brush my fingers across my eyes. It doesn't flake either, which is a definite positive for me because I wear contact lenses. I can't even count how many times I've gotten frustrated with a mascara because it flaked and irritated my eyes. Smashbox's Lash DNA definitely does what it was designed to do. I noticed a big difference in length with this mascara. It made my lashes look insanely long and gorgeous, and lets not forget lush and full too. I really liked that it not only held my curled lashes but assisted in making in curl even more. The other positive thing about this Smashbox mascara was that it lasted pretty much all day for me. I didn't have to reapply once.

The downside to Smashbox's Lash DNA mascara was that the brush was too bushy for me, and it didn't taper at the end. I thought the concept was good, and it got the job done but at the same time made it difficult to apply to my lashes without making a mess around my eyes. I didn't like that the tip didn't taper in either because it made it hard to reach the outer lashes without getting a goop of mascara on my face. It's not waterproof either, but considering how it stays on really well that's not too much of a problem. It's probably not the best mascara to wear to a wedding if you plan on crying though.

Smashbox's Lash DNA mascara cost $19 for the regular size tube. I know it sounds like a lot for a tube of mascara ,and at first I thought so too, but then I considered how great the product was and reconsidered. I think that $19 is a reasonable price for a superb mascara like Smashbox's Lash DNA. I would definitely purchase this product for myself, and recommend it.
