This dilemma is what makes "value sets" so appealing. many companies offer box sets of products for a much lower price than it would cost to purchase the products separately. Recently Smashbox, a high quality cosmetics company, has been offering a line of boxed sets called "Masterclass". These sets all come with either a booklet or a DVD that demonstrate how you can use the products in the kit to create certain "pro" makeup looks. These kits are only available at Sephora, which is somewhat of an inconvenience. They can also be purchased on line at Sephora.com, and will ship to your house in about a week.
The new Masterclass GlamourEyes box set costs $59 and comes with a jet set waterproof eyeliner, a cream eyeliner, and eye shadow quad, photo finish lid primer, Bionic Mascara, an Eye Beam double ended eye brightener stick, a smudge brush and a step by step guide to achieving 3 different looks. All the products are full sized, which makes this set an excellent value! I really liked all of the products and found them all to be useful except for the Bionic Mascara; I've had much longer and thicker results from drug store brands. The set comes in three different colors, one for brown eyes, one for blue eyes and one for hazel eyes. The idea is that the colors in each set are designed to flawlessly compliment your eye color.
This set is really designed for women who are just starting to experiment with makeup. It's really perfect for anyone just starting to buy eye makeup, or who needs to replace part of their eye makeup collection because it really has everything you need for great looking eyes. You probably shouldn't consider buying this set if you already have similar eyeshadow or liner colors at home, so take a close look at the colors in each box before making your purchase.
Although the set comes with a step by step guide, if you are new to makeup I would also recommend watching some other tutorials on line or reading up on eye makeup application as well. The guide is not overly detailed and would be difficult to follow if you had no prior experience with any of the products.
