"Whiskey Girl," by Toby Keith
This 2004 mid-tempo hit sang about a man's girl not being into wine and roses, champagne, margaritas and beer. Nope. Whiskey is her style.
"The Whiskey Ain't Workin,'" by Travis Tritt
Travis Tritt was known for his rebel attitude. His songs, like "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" had has much oomph as he did. He released a song about a man needing to find a good woman (rather, a honky tonk angel) to help him get out of his slump, because "the whiskey, ain't workin', anymore..."
"Whiskey Lullaby," Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley
Most country drinking songs are rousing and upbeat, but this smash hit was a lovely, yet haunting duet from Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss. The song was about a couple who separated, and basically drank themselves to death. The song was co-written by country music power-writer, Bill Anderson.
"Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off," by Joe Nichols
This song is probably one of the most fun new country songs of late. Joe Nichols, relatively new to the airwaves, had a huge hit with "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off," a quirky song about a drunken girl who seemingly can't handle the tequila. The clothes coming off is by no means provocative, more borderline silly. Accompanying the catchy tune was an equally funny music video.
"Straight Tequila Night" by John Anderson
John Anderson has one of the most unique voices in country music with hits like "Seminole Wind" and "Straight Tequila Night," a song about a normally fun-loving girl who gets a bit on the dramatic side when she's drinkin' the Cuervo. Here's hint of the chorus: "But don't ask her on a straight tequila night/She'll start thinkin' about him, then she's ready to fight/Blames her broken heart on every man in sight/On a straight tequila night...."
"Ten Rounds of Jose Cuervo," by Tracy Bryd
Tracy Byrd had some great success in the late 90s and early 2000s with hits like "The Watermelon Crawl," and "The Keeper of the Stars." He was absent for the airwaves for a little while and then hit it huge again a few years ago with "Ten Rounds of Jose Cuervo," a neo-classic drinking song about how the night gets crazier after each round of tequila.
Other Country Songs About Liquor:
"Tennessee Whiskey," David Allan Coe
"Tequila Talking," Lonestar
"Two Pina Coladas," by Garth Brooks. While a Pina Colada is not itself a liquor, it includes rum, and was a very catchy summer-time tune.
